Frequently Asked Questions

Class payments  are due on the 1st of every month. We accept cash or check. Checks can be made out to Detroit Folk Arts LLC. Starting in September 2019, DFA will start accepting Visa and Master Card. 

Students joining Furteelay Shokeen must be entering High school (9th Grade or higher) and must have attended at least 4 Level 2 classes. Joining Furteelay Shokeen will require a tryout and an interview. If the student does not make the team, we encourage them to keep trying to up their skills by signing up for one of our classes.

Students Joining DFA Mutiyaaran must be entering High school (9th Grade or higher) and must have attended at least 4 Level 2 classes. Joining DFA Mutiyaaran will require a tryout and an interview. If the student does not make the team, we encourage them  keep trying to up their skills by signing up for one of our other classes.

Our classes typically run from 8-12 students. We max out all our classes at 16 students.

Students are required to wear athletic gear when attending class.  

Missed classes may be made up in another class of the same level. However, there is no reduction in tuition or refund for the missed class. Makeup class times and days will be decided by the instructor.

Level 1 classes are 1 hour long

Level 2 classes are 1.5 hours long

Adult Bhangra classes are 1 hour long

DFA Mutiyaaran classes are 1.5 hours long

If classes are full, the student will be put on a waitlist. From there, two things can happen. Either a current student will drop and a spot will open up, or enough students of the same level will be on the waitlist and a new class will be opened.
